【摘要】:ThisdevicespecificationiscompliantwiththeUPnPDeviceArchitectureversion1.0.ItdefinesadevicetypereferredtohereinasMediaServer.TheMediaServerspecificationdefinesageneral-purposedevicethatcanbeusedtoinstantiateanyConsumerElectronics(CE)devicethatprovidesAVcontent(forexample,media)tootherUPnPdevicesonthehomenetwork.ItisbasedontheUPnPAVArchitectureFramework(describedinanotherdocument).ItexposesitscontentviatheContentDirectoryservice(refertotheContentDirectoryservicespecificationfordetails).TheMediaServerMAYalsoprovidefunctionalitytorecordcontentusingtheScheduledRecordingservice(refertotheScheduledRecordingservicespecification).Assuch,theMediaServercanhandleanyspecifictypeofmedia,anydataformat,andtransferprotocol.ExampleinstancesofaMediaServerincludetraditionaldevicessuchasVCRs,CDPlayers,DVDPlayers,audio-tapeplayers,still-imagecameras,camcorders,radios,TVTuners,andset-topboxes.AdditionalexamplesofaMediaServeralsoincludenewdigitaldevicessuchasMP3servers,PVRs,andHomeMediaServerssuchasthePC.Althoughthesedevicescontaindiverse(AV)contentinoneformoranother,theMediaServer(viatheContentDirectoryservice)isabletoexposethiscontenttothehomenetworkinauniformandconsistentmanner.ThisabilityallowstheMediaServertoinstantiatetraditionalsingle-functiondevicesaswellasmorerecentmulti-functiondevicessuchasVCR-DVDplayersandthegeneralpurposeHomeMediaServer,whichcontainsawidevarietyofcontentsuchasMPEG2video,CDaudio,MP3and/orWMAaudio,JPEGimages,etc.
