【摘要】:1.1PurposeandApplication8212;Thisguidesummarizestheequipment,fieldprocedures,andinterpretationmethodsfortheassessmentofsubsurfacematerialsusingthemetaldetectionmethod.Metaldetectorsrespondtothepresenceofbothferrousandnonferrousmetalsbyinducingeddycurrentsinconductiveobjects.Metaldetectorsareeitherfrequencydomain(continuousfrequencyorwave)ortimedomain(pulsed)systems.Awiderangeofmetaldetectorsiscommonlyavailable.1.1.1Metaldetectorscandetectanykindofmetallicmaterial,includingbothferrousmetalssuchasironandsteel,andnon-ferrousmetalssuchasaluminumandcopper.Incontrast,magnetometersonlydetectferrousmetals.1.1.2Metaldetectormeasurementscanbeusedtodetectthepresenceofburiedmetaltrash,drums(Tyagietal,1983)(1)andtanks,abandonedwells(GuideD6285);totraceburiedutilities;andtodelineatetheboundariesoflandfillmetalandtrenchmetal.Theyarealsousedtodetectmetalbasedunexplodedordnance(UXO).1.1.3Benson(1982)(2)andU.S.EPA(1993)(3)provideanoverviewofmetaldetectors.1.2Limitations:1.2.1Thisguideprovidesanoverviewofthemetaldetectionmethod.Itdoesnotprovideoraddressthedetailsofthetheory,fieldprocedures,orinterpretationofthedata.Referencesareincludedforthatpurposeandareconsideredanessentialpartofthisguide.ItisrecommendedthattheuserofthisguidebefamiliarwiththereferencescitedandwiththeASTMstandardsD420,D653,D5088,D5608,D5730,D5753,D6235,D6429,andD6431.1.2.2Thisguideislimitedtometaldetectionmeasurementsmadeonland.Themetaldetectionmethodcanbeadaptedforanumberofspecialusesonland,water,airborneandice.1.2.3Theapproachessuggestedinthisguideforthemetaldetectionmethodarecommonlyused,widelyaccepted,andproven.However,otherapproachesormodificationstothemetaldetectionmethodthataretechnicallysoundmaybesubstituted.1.2.4Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducation,experienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaprojectsmanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsareregardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareinch-poundunits,whichareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.4Precautions:1.4.1Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisguidetofollowanyprecautionsintheequipmentmanufacturer''srecommendationsandtoestablishappropriatehealthandsafetypractices.1.4.2Ifthemethodisusedatsiteswithhazardousmaterials,operations,orequipment,itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisguidetoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofanyregulationspriortouse.1.4.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
