【摘要】:Thetruesignificanceofthistestmethodfordeterminingguminmotorgasolineisnotfirmlyestablished.Ithasbeenprovedthathighgumcancauseinduction-systemdepositsandstickingofintakevalves,andinmostinstances,itcanbeassumedthatlowgumwillensureabsenceofinduction-systemdifficulties.Theusershould,however,realizethatthetestmethodisnotofitselfcorrelativetoinduction-systemdeposits.Theprimarypurposeofthetestmethod,asappliedtomotorgasoline,isthemeasurementoftheoxidationproductsformedinthesamplepriortoorduringthecomparativelymildconditionsofthetestprocedure.Sincemanymotorgasolinesarepurposelyblendedwithnonvolatileoilsoradditives,theheptaneextractionstepisnecessarytoremovethesefromtheevaporationresiduesothatthedeleteriousmaterial,gum,maybedetermined.Withrespecttoaviationturbinefuels,largequantitiesofgumareindicativeofcontaminationoffuelbyhigherboilingoilsorparticulatematterandgenerallyreflectpoorhandlingpracticesindistributiondownstreamoftherefinery.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheexistentgumcontentofaviationfuels,andthegumcontentofmotorgasolinesorothervolatiledistillatesintheirfinishedform,(includingthosecontainingalcoholandethertypeoxygenatesanddepositcontroladditivesx2014;seeNote7foradditionalinformation)atthetimeoftest.1.2Provisionsaremadeforthedeterminationoftheheptaneinsolubleportionoftheresidueofnon-aviationfuels.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3.1TheacceptedSIunitofpressureisthePascal(Pa);theacceptedSIunitfortemperatureisdegreesCelsius.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificwarningstatements,see6.4,7.4,and9.1.
